About

what is the violet post

The Violet Post is a creative journal for those who love to explore fashion and culture while discovering diverse lifestyles and voices within the fashion community. We believe in the power of looking to the past while staying informed about the present, allowing us to form thoughtful perspectives and appreciate fashion and art through a more compelling lens.

At our core, we aim to guide people in a world where clothing has become so disposable that fashion is now the second most polluting industry. Through our unique approach—Violetizing—we help individuals curate their wardrobes and shopping habits with sustainability in mind.

how did it come about?

The Violet Post began as a blog called Nila, created in 2023 by our Founder and Editor-in-Chief, Nilani Aisling Mathur. Initially, it served as her personal space for reflections on fashion, lifestyle, trends, and curation.

By 2024, she envisioned something greater—a platform that amplified diverse young perspectives on the fashion world while integrating her deep passion for fashion sustainability. This vision gave rise to Violetizing, a movement toward more mindful and responsible fashion choices.

Today, The Violet Post is building a team of thoughtful, artistic collaborators to inspire and enrich our readers.

what is our vision?

We strive to create a welcoming space where anyone passionate about artistic expression can learn and engage without feeling intimidated by a lack of expertise. Fashion, culture, and creativity should be accessible to all, and we believe that curiosity—whether about the past or present—should be met with excitement, not hesitation. Yet too often, young people, in particular, feel their perspectives lack credibility, making them reluctant to share their thoughts. That’s why we offer musings and insights designed to build confidence, encouraging readers to embrace their unique voices—because every perspective holds value.

Beyond fostering dialogue, we also seek to change the way people perceive clothing in today’s world. Even self-proclaimed fashion lovers often fall into the harmful mindset that garments are meant to be worn once and discarded, treating fashion as something inherently disposable. We believe that truly valuing our clothing is a climate solution in itself. Through Violetizing, we help people develop a more personal style rather than chasing fleeting trends, shop and dress ethically, and mindfully recycle old pieces—all while embracing a more sustainable and intentional relationship with fashion.
